Player Selection Policy

Selections for Monash University Netball Club will be open to all registered netballers.

Three selection dates will be allocated and advertised four weeks in advance of the first date on the Monash University Central website, Netball Victoria website and also displayed at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, Waverley Netball Centre, Knox Regional Netball Centre and Monash University.

All selections will be held at Monash University, Clayton Campus.

Players attending the selections must submit a Selection Registration form to the Club Secretary.

The forms will be available on the MUC website and the netball centres listed above.

Players will be expected to attend at least two of the selection dates. If a player cannot attend a selection date, the club secretary must be notified in writing (email).

Skill and match play opportunities will be offered throughout the selection process.

Players will be assessed in at least two of their nominated positions.

The Executive Committee and the Head Coach will appoint a minimum of three and maximum of five selectors. At least one of these selectors will be independent. Selectors will have at least Level 1 coaching qualification and have no conflict of interest.

Training squads/teams will be selected by the panel by way of general consensus and majority voting. Should the panel be split three ways on any squad/team member, the Head Coach of that team shall have the determining vote

However the Head Coach does not have the power to override the decision of the other two selection panel members if they are both in agreement on the selection of a squad/team member.

All players shall be notified in writing (email) of their selection or non-selection within seven days of the final selection date.

The written notification will also invite any players to contact the Head Coach if they wish to discuss the selection process further and gain any feedback on their own performance.

This process is already in place and expected to be ongoing.
